Cow Geography is one of my series of works that I call “Organica”. Paintings in this series primarily reflect my contemplation of colour, combining at first with a freedom of gesture. Then as the organic and semi-abstract image emerges, I work from impulse to complete the painting. I hope each resulting work is energetic and free, unselfconscious. This work appeared to me as the head of a cow, a reflection of the countryside near where I live – where cattle can be seen grazing, in beautiful fields the color of straw, against a backdrop of distant purple mountains.
