Gold Rush by

As Canadians we are blessed to have so many places where we can escape the hustle and bustle of urban life and hectic schedules.  We have seemingly endless mountain ranges, that from a distance can look unreachable, insurmountable, but up close are inviting- and grounding.  In thick, acrylic paints and with a large palette knife, I have attempted to capture both the visual and tactile aspects of that moment on a hike or ride when the view opens up and you can see how far you’ve come, and how far you could go.  It compels you to stop, to listen to the rustling of the leaves; to take in the vast distance between this mountain and the next; to sit on the worn, rugged rocks warmed by the sun; to breathe and take it all in; and perhaps to contemplate your next adventure.
