I was born 1977 in Quebec, Canada. At the age of four our family relocated to the Calgary region where I’ve spent the majority of my life. Like most kids I had a natural affinity to drawing, though my interest only grew with time. At age sixteen I made my first acrylic painting and shortly thereafter began experimenting with oils. Soon thereafter I merged exclusively into oil paint on canvas as my medium of choice. I currently reside in Cochrane, Alberta with my wonderful wife Leah and our amazing little girl Ivy.
In regard to my selection for landscape reference material, I seek a sense of nostalgia and familiarity. While I adhere quite closely to rendering the actual photograph, I allow many interpretations/omissions to occur during the process to render a more effective composition. I find the constant challenge with landscapes is in the attempt to capture the mood of a place, a moment charged with meaning and depth.
