Emily Bickell grew up in Whitby, on the shore of Lake Ontario, Canada. In 1998 she received an Honours Bachelor of Arts degree in Fine Arts with a studio specialization in painting and printmaking from the University of Waterloo.
A life-long fascination with nature informs Emily’s work. Her oil paintings of water float between abstraction and realism. The beauty of Nymphaea, with their inner light contrasting against dark and mysterious water, inspires her water lily paintings. Travel and adventures in the Canadian wilderness provide endless inspiration.
Emily’s studio is located in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, where she lives with her husband and two young children.
